POLIO (IPV-IPOL) VACCINE

VACCINE USAGE: IPOL vaccine is indicated for active immunization of infants (as young as 6 weeks of age), children and adults for the prevention of poliomyelitis caused by poliovirus Types 1, 2, and 3.

VACCINE DOSAGE: the vaccine is packaged in a single dose syringe with needle containing 0.5 ml of product and is intended for subcutaneous injection. It is not to be administered intravenously.

VACCINE INGEDIENTS: phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde, neomycin, streptomycin, polymyxin B, monkey kidney cells, Eagle MEM modified medium, calf serum protein.

ADVERSE VACCINE REACTIONS: IPOL vaccine is contraindicated in persons with a history of hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine, including 2-phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde, neomycin, streptomycin, and polymyxin B. Deaths have been reported in temporal association with the IPV vaccine. High fever, irritability, anorexia, vomiting, persistent crying, GBS, lymphadenopathy, agitation, injection site mass, type 1 hypersensitivity including allergic reaction, anaphylactic reaction, anaphylactic shock, arthralgia, myalgia, convulsions, febrile convulsions, headache, paraesthesia, somnolence, rash, urticarial.
