INFLUENZA (FLUVIRIN) VACCINE

VACCINE USAGE: FLUVIRIN® is an inactivated influenza virus vaccine indicated for active immunization of persons 4 years of age and older against influenza disease caused by influenza virus subtypes A and type B contained in the vaccine. FLUVIRIN® is not indicated for children less than 4 years of age because there is evidence of diminished immune response in this age group.

VACCINE DOSAGE: for intramuscular use only.

  • 4 years through 8 years – one or two doses a, 0.5 mL each – if 2 doses, administer at least 1 month apart.
  • 9 years and older – one dose, 0.5 mL.

VACCINE INGEDIENTS: nonylphenol ethoxylate, thimerosal (multi-dose only in prefilled syringe), polymyxin, neomycin, beta-propiolactone, egg proteins.

ADVERSE VACCINE REACTIONS: pain, headache, fatigue, fever, sweating, arthralgia, myalgia, malaise, sore throat, chills, nausea, cough, wheezing, stroke, hypersensitivity reactions, vasculitis, loss of appetite, confusion, febrile seizures, Guillain-Barre syndrome, urticaria, rash, cellulitis, encephalopathy.
